On March 12, VICA (Vaughan Italian Cultural Association) will present Via Moda, an immersive fashion experience that brings together runway, culture, and community under one roof. More than a traditional fashion show, Via Moda is designed as a living environment — one that honours Italian heritage while creating meaningful space for contemporary and emerging design.

Inspired by Italy’s long-standing relationship with fashion as art, Via Moda draws from Renaissance ideals of craftsmanship, proportion, and creative expression. It is a reminder that fashion has always been more than clothing — it is language, identity, and cultural dialogue.

A Curated Runway Experience

At the heart of Via Moda is a professionally produced runway showcasing emerging fashion designers. Each participating designer is invited to present one original look — a focused expression of their creative vision. This approach allows designers to highlight concept, craftsmanship, and intention, offering audiences a clear and thoughtful presentation of emerging talent.

The runway is designed to feel editorial and refined, creating an environment where fashion can be experienced as both performance and art. Designers, models, and creatives collaborate within a setting that values quality, storytelling, and visual impact.

The VICA Distinction in Design

In alignment with VICA’s commitment to education and cultural advancement, Via Moda will include the presentation of the VICA Distinction in Design. This award recognizes excellence in creativity, craftsmanship, and vision among the participating designers.

The recipient will receive a Certificate of Recognition, along with a $1,000 award, intended to encourage continued academic and professional growth. This distinction reflects VICA’s ongoing dedication to nurturing emerging talent and supporting the next generation of creative leaders.

An Immersive Mercato Experience

Beyond the runway, Via Moda unfolds into a vibrant Mercato that flows throughout the venue. Inspired by Italian market culture, the Mercato creates a dynamic atmosphere where fashion, design, and community intersect.

Guests are invited to explore curated vendor experiences, engage with fashion-forward brands, and enjoy a setting that feels both elevated and welcoming. The Mercato is not a separate feature — it is an integral part of the Via Moda experience, reinforcing the idea that fashion lives within culture, commerce, and everyday life.
